Pop-Up Birthday Card

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
I know it's a bit late into the year but better late than never. I hope you have a wonderful 2016 and wish only great things come to you and your family. I am posting a birthday card for my dear boyfriend. He is such a sweetheart and his birthday is early February so I decided to complete it early and not let procrastination win over once again. I used the mamaelephant three amigos stamp set which I love love LOVE!  I am very happy with how this turned out although it did take quite some time to finish. The outside I left pretty simple with just two patterns of washi tape, stamping the front with the greeting "Let's Celebrate". Can't remember the brand and stamp name right now.

For the inside, I cut card stock with the cloud background and adhered it to the front inside of the card. I stamped Happy Birthday from a paper smooches stamp set and used thin strips of Grafix medium weight chipboard for the posts. At first I attempted to let the banner part hang from each of the posts but it kept dropping oddly in the center pulling the posts inward. So i chose to put the top strip to make it sturdier and glued the birthday sign to the strip.

Then I hand cut and colour the little raccoon and cut circles from a patterned card stock.  I cut the grass border with my silhouette  cameo and tied bows using lawnfawn's tangerine twine. To give the floating helium effect for the bunch of balloons, I cut a thin strip of clear plastic and wrapped the twine around it and attached it to the balloon bunch. I think the twist of the twine makes it really look like the balloons are floating.

I am so happy with how this card turned out as it is exactly how I pictured it. Hoping you enjoyed this card as much as I did. Lots of work but worth it in the end for sure.

Take care!

Four Birds on a Branch

Good day good people,

Today is Friday for lots of us here in Trinidad. Tomorrow or Saturday (not sure if they confirmed it as yet) we will be celebrating Eid. The government gave the public holiday as Saturday but not sure whether Eid will actually be celebrate tomorrow or Saturday. Many business places give staff the day off when a public holiday falls on a Saturday, which thankfully, I got. Thank God for holidays!

Sooo…after losing the Paper Smooches SPARKS Anything Goes Challenge last week (I didn't win so I consider that losing) and being so disappointed because I really thought I had a pretty good idea with Oceans Apart and Island House, I figured I’d give it another try since I badly want to win their nice prizes.

The Paper Smooches SPARKS  Inspiration Picture

The first thing that stood out to me in the inspiration picture was the shadows of the branch and birds so I knew immediately I wanted the branch to be raised off the card so it would cast shadows. I’m not sure how closely you have to stick to the picture so I just used it as a guide really.

I started with an A2 base (Neenah 100 LB smooth desert storm), then blended tumbled glass distress ink lightly to the left and peacock feathers more heavily to the top and right side of a 4” X 5.25” Canson Water Pad paper, with the corners punched. I love how seamlessly and effortlessly the distress inks blend on water paper. I don’t have to worry if the ink will leave solid unblended blotches if I accidently press too hard. The colours all blend together to give the softest and most seamless flow of colours.

I cut the tiny flowers and branch from the silhouette cameo and assembled them first. Then I stamped the birds, clouds and bird house from the Bitty Bungalows stamp set, cut them out by hand, and stuck them to the branch which I bent at several places in order for it to remain raised like a real branch.

I got a piece of ribbon which I cut to a thinner strip and added it to suspend the house from the branch. Using the ‘hey there’ stamp from the PaperSmooches Sentiment Sampler, I stamped on a rectangular piece of paper and round punched the top left and bottom right corners.

Hopefully my card wins this challenge, there are a lot of great card designers out there though, so we'll just have to wait and see. So much talent and ideas from all over the world, it’s a joy to see and get inspiration from others.

Have a great weekend and Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim friends!

Happy Birthday Card - Raccoon

Hi again,

I made this card for my cousin's birthday in August. Hopefully she doesn't discover this blog before then. I used the mamaelephant three amigos stamp set (which i love love love). They are so cute and there is a million ways you can include them in your cards. Best purchase ever!

Isn't he adorable? Such a cutie.

Have a great week ahead and thanks for stopping by.

Stay sweet,
SweetiePaper.

Sugar Time

Hello there!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was great, but as always too short. Here is a card i made with the PaperSmooches Sugar Rush stamp set. I love that each of the main images in this set has a 'face' to accompany it. My favorite face is the tiniest one which i used on the cake pop. It's just soooo tiny!!!! How did they make it so small?? I don't know but I'm glad they did.

Thanks for taking the time to check out my blog. See you back soon!

Cheers,
SweetiePaper.

Bitty Bungalow Island Card - Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge

Hello there,

Here's another card using the bitty bungalows stamps from PaperSmooches. So cute and adorable. Figured I'd have nothing to lose so i'm entering it in the PaperSmooches SPARKS Challenge. I love these stamps.

I also bought the sugar rush stamp set which is absolutely adorable. It contains the sweetest stamps of faces of varying sizes that can fit on all the images. Very sweet indeed. Until next time, have a great week!

Take care,
SweetiePaper.
